Aneel Vyaz
Aneel Vyaz is a queer, brown, Toronto-based, emerging artist with a Bachelor in Fine Arts ‘with Distinction’ from OCAD University 2023, and is continuing education at the institute to pursue a Masters in Fine Arts. Their practice utilizes representational painting, photography and performance to explore themes related to identity, queerness, healing and self-love.
Aneel is a graduate of the Inside Out Film Mentorship Program, and JAYU’s iAM Painting and Collaging Programs. They have showcased work at exhibitions such as Nuit Blanche, OCAD University, Human Rights Festival, and the Inside Out Film Festival. This year they joined the Global Experience Project Artist Residency, facilitated by the Mexican based artist duo “Tony Macarena”. They have also participated in the DesignTO Youth ‘Unpacking Creative Practice’ program. Alongside being an emerging student artist, Aneel is also pursuing a career in education, and is a teaching assistant at OCAD University. They taught a week-long painting program at White Owl, and several painting and collaging programs at JAYU since 2021.
